Hello! If you're reading this, I would like to follow or interact with you for one reason or another. I do not use Bluesky as I am not a huge fan of some of the stuff they do (transphobia, racism, "AI" "tools", etc.). My account is run on another platform, and in order to follow you, you need to follow this account so that I can see and interact with you from where I am. The account acts as a sort of "link" between the two platforms, translating between them as needed.

This is not some kind of weird scam, which I'm sure is not entirely reassuring, but allow me to elaborate and address some common concerns:
- This is not crypto- or AI-related. I hate that stuff as much as you do (possibly more)
- My account here is sparse because it is only used to ask people to bridge. You can get a far more accurate impression of my activity on my main account.
- This will not do anything sketchy. The project is entirely open-source (anyone can look at the code), so if it was doing anything unscrupulous someone would probably have noticed by now :P
- This does not create accounts or posts on your behalf, it simply translates between the two platforms. All posts I can see are entirely your own, and same with all posts you can see from me.

If you need further verification that I am who I say I am, I have a pinned post here quoting another post from my main (bridged/off-site) account so you can see I'm not impersonating anyone.
You are free to unfollow the account after it has followed you, and you will remain bridged. To unbridge, block the account (you can unblock it afterwards and you will not be re-bridged). To re-bridge, follow the account again. If you want, you can also use the "log in with bluesky" button on the main page, and avoid following the account entirely.

Last but not least, please let me know if you have any questions, comments, or concerns. I want this to go as smoothly as possible for both parties and I am totally willing to elaborate on anything you want me to. If/when you have bridged, please let me know (the bridge itself doesn't tell me). If you do not want to bridge, please let me know as well and I will understand. Ghosting/blocking me does nothing and isn't helpful for anyone involved, as I have no idea what happened, what went wrong, or if you even saw my message. If you want to block me for some other reason, no matter how petty, go ahead, but doing it after I reach out to you because I want to interact comes across as unhospitable and just plain rude, even if that's not your intention /nm.

I would like to extend my thanks to all those who have bridged (including the official VOTV account, thanks a ton!) and those who have respectfully declined instead of ghosting or blocking me.
